I haven't done this kind of thing before but I have been 'tagged' by fellow blogger Kitty and now have to tell the world six random things about myself. So I feel duty bound to confess the following:
1. When I was at secondary school my career ambition for quite a long time was to join the police and become a detective. I read a lot of Nancy Drew when I was little. Anyway, this ambition got squashed rather when one of the boys in my class accused me of wanting to become one of the 'pigs'. I later found out that you have to do rather a lot of physical activities during the police training and that put paid to it completely.
2. I have my CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) certificate, so if I wanted to I could ride a motorbike or moped with L-plates. Sadly my mother would not allow me to ride a motorbike, and still won't allow me despite my being 23 and moved away from home, so I never got any further than taking the training.
3. When I was 14 I got to do a week's work experience at the BBC in their political news office in the Houses of Parliament, this involved being in the same office as their then political correspondent John Sergeant. I have a distinct memory of him being very grumpy on my first day because some radio DJ had done a poll of 'people you'd least like to see naked' and he came out top.
4. My favourite smell in the world is the inside of an old church, that musty, damp stone sort of smell. I can't get enough of it so, despite being an atheist, I will never turn down the chance to go into an old church.
5. One of the best jobs I've ever had was as a silver service waitress at a swanky hotel, I can silver-serve vegetables with the best of them, and my favourite part of the job was being allowed to cut the cake up at weddings, and eating all the leftover icing.
6. I don't like Al Pacino. There's absolutely no rationality behind my dislike of him, but for some reason he makes my skin crawl. It's very rare that I will watch a film with him in it.
Right, next bit, I need to tag six other bloggers. Hmm, lets see:
The rules are as follows:
Link to the person that tagged you - i.e. me.
Post the rules on your blog.
Write six random things about you in a blog post.
Tag six people in your post.
Let each person know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Let the tagger know your entry is up.
